The Association of Individual Investors (SII) has been operating since 1999, and it is the largest organisation designed for stock market investors in Poland. It is a member of the European investor organisations, Euroshareholders and Euroinvestors, and of the World Federation of Investors (WFIC). Apart from its core activity consisting in protecting and representing the individual shareholders’ rights and educating, the Association is also active in the area of investor relations. The main purpose of these activities is to enhance the standards of communication between issuers and individual investors and to facilitate for the companies the provision of information to this group of market participants. By associating the most active stock market investors and cooperating with the majority of brokerage offices, and owing to its country-wide reach, SII is able to support effectively the communication between listed companies or companies planning their debut on the capital market and private investors. It is particularly important in the situation where 14% of the turnover on the Warsaw Stock Exchange can be attributed to this group and where this group influences the current valuation and liquidity of the majority of companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) and NewConnect. Therefore, it is so important to carry out the active and systematic information policy addressed to the minority shareholders.
